How Portsmouth Technopole helped one company turn just a £400 loan into a technological revolution
Loadbalancer.org, led by husband-and-wife team Malcolm and Karen Turnbull, has expanded so much that it has outgrown its home of seven years at Portsmouth Technopole, the serviced office and business support centre at the city gateway to the M275. The company, which saw Malcolm diagnosed with leukemia just as the business was getting off the ground 13 years ago, has acquired the freehold of Compass House, a 9,400 sq ft premises at Compass Road. Loadbalancer.org sprung into life when Karen provided £400 seed investment - she saw first-hand the commercial potential from Malcolm building his own online hardware version of motorway 'fast lanes', known in the IT industry as loadbalancers.
Malcolm and Karen never lost sight of their business goal and, with Malcolm making a full recovery, Loadbalancer.org has become a superb example of the fantastic support that we offer here at Portsmouth Technopole.
"We're were sad to be leaving Portsmouth Technopole, which has been our business home for seven years, providing us with the phenomenal support that helped us grow."
Malcolm Turnbull, Director at Loadbalancer.org
The company now has 22 staff in the UK as well as offices in the USA, Canada and Germany. Thanks to the fantastic growth facilitated by the team here at Portsmouth Technopole, Loadbalancer.org’s customers include household names such as O2, BT, BBC, hotels giant Premier Inn, Mercedes Benz, ASOS, Vodafone, Estée Lauder, Bacardi, River Island, the NHS, and Selfridges.
